Opie turns 53 (an old 53..)

 Ron Howard has certainly come a long way since his “happy” child-actor days. At left, Howard was a bright-eyed boy in his striped polo when this photo was taken, circa 1961. Celebrating his 53rd birthday on March 1st, the former “Happy Days” actor has added director and producer to his resume, along with two Academy Awards.
